for a biography, taken from a book, of William Freeborn's father James King "of William"
William is in 1860 census but not with the mother that is given in the other family tree. But if his father was killed in 1856, then perhaps that makes some sense. Investigate further when in CA | King, William Freeborn (P1161)

The 1810 Greenville SC census has a Matthew Burgess with a list of children that could fit Carter and Thomas Burgess. This Matthew Burgess looks to be the same person that was listed in an earlier Burke County NC census. The y chromosome match of John Burgess of Rutherford County NC (1850) would be consistent with a Burke County family line.
And John Burgess named a son Matthew - an unusual name for that time period. | Burgess, maybe Matthew (I47)

The 1880 census record seems to fit. An Alice Evans, age 25, was boarding with Coleman Evans his wife and two children NEXT DOOR TO Francis A. Kirk's brother William. Since they got married in Clark Co., I'm guessing this is our Alice.
The 1860 census has Coleman Evans living with his mother and numerous other siblings, including a younger sister named Alice.
If this is the right connection then her parents were Absalom Evans (born in N. Carolina) and Mary Gunter (born in Virginia) but her birth year would be 1856. Absalom died in 1859. One brother would have been Sargent Wilson Evans who is buried in Otisco cemetery. There is a biography of him in Baird's history of Clark Co. I feel sure this is the right family for Alice E. Sargent. Sargent owned a couple stores, a mill and a tomato canning plant.....probably the very one that Robert C. Kirk worked in at age 9 to help support his widowed mother.

The 1885 Kansas census lists only one son, Fred, with Nelson H. and Carrie McCoy. Since Fred does not show up in later records, it's possible that he and Merle are the same person. | Mccoy, Merle (P1081)

The connection between this woman and Daniel Lemmon, cousin to Ola Kirk is still unclear. It appears that Daniel's father was Isaac whose father was also Isaac and they lived in Webster Twshp, Harrison Co, at the same time Zepporah and Harvey did. So perhaps the senior Isaac was a brother to Zepporah? | Lemmon, Zepporah Ellen/Elenor (P360)

The Foster Genealogy by Pierce says he married a Drucilla Birch who died. The 1856 Iowa census has him and his brother Judah, laborers, and a Drucilla Foster, AGE 2, boarding in Union Iowa. This could be a typo I suppose. I can't yet find the marriage record or death record. for her. | Foster, Hiram Isaiah (P800)
